According to him, a Republican center operates under the Ministry of Health, focusing on the prevention and control of particularly dangerous and quarantine infections.
“The center has special sanitary-quarantine points at the borders with third countries. In the event of outbreaks of infections, temporary quarantine measures can be organized with Kazakhstan. As of now, with the results of 2025, there have been no outbreaks of such diseases as plague and anthrax. Nevertheless, other infectious diseases have been under the control of our sanitary-epidemiological service,” noted Ryspek Sydygaliev.
He also reminded that a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers concerning the "Approval of the rules for sanitary protection of the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and a comprehensive plan for anti-epidemic measures for 2026-2030" was previously presented for public discussion.
This document proposes to strengthen control over sanitary-quarantine measures at all types of international transport and at border crossing points.
“During the coronavirus pandemic, repairs and equipping of quarantine points were carried out with the help of donors and from the budget. It is also planned to conduct training activities with participants from all ministries that work at the entry points into the country. New unexplored infections are emerging, requiring increased control. We must update our documentation to be ready for changes in medicine,” added the deputy minister.
He emphasized that there is a clear algorithm of actions for transport workers, including train conductors and aircraft commanders, in case infectious patients are identified. For example, at Manas Airport, two isolation units are equipped for patients with elevated temperatures, and there are special boxes for such patients in the infectious hospital.
Kubanychbek Bekturdiyev, head of the epidemiology department of the Republican center, noted that the importation of infections into the country can occur through animals, goods, birds, and people.
“The pandemic of influenza and cholera continues, with the addition of coronavirus, and new infections are emerging. For example, cases of positive results for Rocky Mountain spotted fever have been recorded in Kyrgyzstan. This indicates that the challenges are increasing,” reported Kubanychbek Bekturdiyev.
He added that the comprehensive action plan includes several key areas, such as:
- preparation for possible infections (stockpiling disinfectants, medications, and hospital beds),
- conducting anti-epidemic measures (identifying the source of infection, restrictions, and quarantine).
