The Bishkek administration reported on the situation regarding the requests from residents of the village of Novopavlovka concerning the possible relocation of the cemetery located at the intersection of Korsakova and Profsoyuznaya streets.

According to the data from the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek Funeral Services Agency," if a decision is made to lay a road through the cemetery, it will require the reburial of approximately 1,364 bodies. Of these, 227 belong to Muslims, and 1,137 to Christians. The last burials took place before 2024.

Furthermore, as reported by the Bishkek Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, the cemetery area may pose a health risk due to potential soil contamination from products of incomplete decomposition and microorganisms that can persist in the soil for a long time.

In accordance with the law "On Public Health," sanitary and epidemiological surveillance advises against exhuming graves to avoid the risk of outbreaks of infectious diseases among residents.

The Bishkek mayor's office emphasizes that its actions are fully in line with the legislation and aimed at protecting the interests of citizens. In this regard, municipal authorities urge residents to rely only on official sources of information.

It was previously reported that residents of Novopavlovka received information from the municipal territorial administration No. 106 about the construction of a road on Profsoyuznaya Street. The MTA clarified that two options for laying the road are currently being considered: through the cemetery or around it, but a final decision has not yet been made.

Local residents have begun collecting signatures demanding to stop the demolition of the cemetery. The petition posted online has already gathered signatures from over a thousand people. Sign the petition.
