In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, a memorial rally was held in Ata-Türk Park at the monument to internationalist soldiers, dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
According to information provided by the city administration, the event began with the laying of flowers at the memorial.
Among the participants were Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Kulmurzaev, Defense Attaché at the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan Igor Dovbnya, as well as veterans, representatives of public organizations, and city residents.
During the rally, participants laid flowers at the monument, and speakers emphasized that the Afghan war was a severe trial for many families and left a significant mark in the history of the country.
Mayor Aibek Junushaliev, addressing those present, noted that February 15 is a day of memory, courage, and unity.
“We bow our heads before the heroism of the fallen and express our sincere gratitude to the veterans who fulfilled their military duty with honor. The municipality will continue to support Afghan warriors, widows, and families of the deceased. Your courage and resilience are an example for the younger generation and an important part of our history,” he stated.
Deputy Minister of Defense Almazbek Kulmurzaev also highlighted the importance of preserving historical memory and expressed gratitude to the veterans for their courage and loyalty to duty.
The memorial rally concluded with the laying of flowers and words of gratitude to the internationalist soldiers, whose names will forever remain in the memory of the people.
