Illegal usury and the operation of a "black pawnshop" have been suppressed in Bishkek, as reported by the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (GKNB).
During an operation aimed at identifying illegal pawnshops that provide loans at inflated interest rates for the purpose of subsequent seizure of collateral property, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic with the initials A.A.T. was detained on February 12.
The detainee was engaged in issuing loans to people in difficult financial situations, earning significant profits from this, including loans secured by real estate.
During searches, documents for about ten real estate properties were found, as well as a smoothbore firearm of the Baikal brand with ammunition, stored in violation of the law.
The detainee is currently held in the GKNB KR detention center.
Investigative activities are ongoing to clarify all the circumstances of the case and identify possible accomplices.
