In Karakol, Issyk-Kul region, a large-scale inspection of pawnshops was conducted by GKNB employees. These activities were initiated at the direction of the head of the state committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, as noted in the agency's press center.
Seizure of documents and passports

As a result of the investigative and operational activities, it was established that some pawnshops disregarded the norms of the Law "On the Activities of Pawnshops." In particular, they accepted personal documents as collateral, such as:
- citizens' passports;
- birth certificates;
- state acts of ownership for land and property.
Following the inspection, 16 pawnshops were sealed. The process of checking other institutions is ongoing.
Combating usury

In order to protect the rights of borrowers, GKNB employees conducted explanatory work with pawnshop owners. The key requirement is strict compliance with the Law "On the Limitation of Usurious Activities," according to which the maximum interest rate should not exceed 30% per annum.
Citizens are advised to carefully check documents when obtaining loans. In cases of forced seizure of pledged property or fraud by pawnshop employees, residents can contact the GKNB office in the Issyk-Kul region at the number 0392251180.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution "On Issues of Pawnshop Activities," which introduces significant changes in the regulation of this sector in recent years. The new document aims to increase the transparency of pawnshop operations, tighten capital requirements, and protect citizens from illegal transactions. In particular, a significant increase in the minimum amount of authorized capital for pawnshops is planned, along with the introduction of other measures to tighten control in this area.
