From February 12 to 17, the premiere of the musical "Süymönkul" will take place on the stage of the Toktogul Satylganov National Philharmonic. This information was provided by the Ministry of Culture.
The musical is dedicated to the memory of the outstanding actor and artist Süymönkul Chokmorov and was written by playwright Akbar Kubanychbekov.
According to ministry representatives, "this is a significant cultural event that highlights the spiritual heritage, history, and cultural values of the Kyrgyz people through art. The audience can expect an exciting performance with live music, a vibrant production, as well as national music and dances."
It should be noted that musicals created in Kyrgyzstan are very popular and regularly attract full houses both in the country and abroad. Examples of successful performances include "Raymaly and Begimai" and "Jamilya".
Süymönkul Chokmorov was born on November 9, 1939, in the village of Chon-Tash, located near Frunze (now the Alamudun district). He became famous for his roles in films such as "A Shot at the Karash Pass," "Jamilya," "Bow to the Fire," "Scarlet Poppies of Issyk-Kul," "The Seventh Bullet," "Fierce," and others.
The actor passed away on September 26, 1992, in Frunze.
In 1975, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, and in 1981, he became a People's Artist of the USSR. In 2024, he was posthumously awarded the title of "Hero of Labor."
