The premiere of the musical "Süymönkul," dedicated to the actor and artist Süymönkul Chokmorov, will take place at the National Philharmonic.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture, the author of this musical is Akbar Kubanychbekov.
In an interview with AKIpress, the Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Mirbek Mambetaliev shared his opinion that musicals are very popular among audiences both in Kyrgyzstan and beyond, mentioning the successful productions of "Raymaly and Begimai" and "Jamilya".
“We are focused on further developing this direction and do not intend to stop at what has been achieved. Currently, the Toktogul Satylganov Philharmonic is working on the musical "Suymonkul," in which our talented film actor and artist Suymonkul Chokmorov will be the main character. The ministry has also allocated additional financial resources for the implementation of this project,” the minister stated.
Suymonkul Chokmorov was born on November 9, 1939, in the village of Chon-Tash, located near Frunze (now Alamudun District).
As an actor, Chokmorov became famous for his roles, including Bakhtygul in the film "Shot at the Karash Pass" (1968), Daniyar in "Jamilya" (1968), Utura in "Bow to the Fire" (1971), Karabalta in "Scarlet Poppies of Issyk-Kul" (1971), Baytemir in "I am Tian Shan" (1972), Maksumov in "The Seventh Bullet" (1972), Akhangul in "The Fierce" (1973), Temir in "Red Apple" (1975), and Zhang Bao in "Dersu Uzala" (1975), among others.
Unfortunately, the artist passed away on September 26, 1992, in Frunze.
In 1975, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, and in 1981, he became a People's Artist of the USSR. In 2024, he was posthumously awarded the title of "Hero of Labor."
