The Talas City Hall denied connection with the suspect in the arson of his wife

The Talas City Hall has officially denied rumors that the man suspected of setting fire to his wife is an active employee of the municipality. The press service of the city hall reported that this citizen is not on the staff of the city hall.

According to the department's information, the man involved in the arson case previously worked at the municipal enterprise "Talas Zhashyl Charba" from July to December 2025, but his employment with the institution has now been terminated.

The city press service stated: "We are against any forms of domestic violence and urge law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate this incident in accordance with the law. We ask the media and citizens to refrain from spreading false information."

It is worth noting that this case has provoked a serious reaction from the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva. The incident occurred in the village of Boo-Terek, where a 28-year-old woman sustained 60% burns after her husband doused her with gasoline and set her on fire in front of their children during a conflict.

The Ombudsman Institute found that the suspect's relatives attempted to cover up the crime by portraying it as an accident. The truth was revealed only months later when the victim, who continued to suffer violence, decided to tell her mother about what had happened.

Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva took the case under her control and called on government agencies to intensify the fight against domestic violence, ensuring the harshest punishment for the perpetrator. Currently, the victim and her children are in Bishkek, undergoing complex rehabilitation. The investigation is being conducted by the Bakai-Ata District Department of Internal Affairs.
