Ombudsman Jamiliya Dzhamanbaeva commented on the situation in which a man doused his wife with gasoline and set her on fire.

According to the mother of the victim, the incident occurred on October 15, 2025, in the village of Boo-Terek, located in the Bakai-Ata district of the Talas region. The 28-year-old M. T. kız married six years ago and is the mother of two daughters.

According to her mother, that evening, her son-in-law came home in an alcoholic stupor, started a scandal, and beat his wife.
“He threatened her with an axe, then went outside in search of a tool but returned with a canister of gasoline and doused her. After that, he went for matches. At that moment, my daughter managed to hide her two children in another room, but she could not escape. As soon as he lit the match, fire erupted on her. She ran outside and tried to extinguish the flames with water from the tap. Passersby heard her screams and took her to the hospital,” shared the victim's mother, N. K.

The mother also noted that the husband's relatives misled the doctors, claiming that the daughter-in-law received burns while igniting the stove with gasoline and accidentally splashed herself.

Currently, the woman and her children are in Bishkek with their mother.

In the Institute of Ombudsman, it was emphasized that the victim needs psychological support and additional treatment. She suffered 60% burns on her body and filed a complaint with the Internal Affairs Department of the Lenin district of Bishkek.

According to the Talas Prosecutor's Office, the complaint from the capital was forwarded to the Bakai-Ata District Department of Internal Affairs, and an investigation is currently underway.

The Ombudsman called on law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate this case and hold those responsible accountable.

It should be noted that on February 5, M. T., born in 1998, filed a complaint with the Lenin District Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek. She reported that on October 15 of last year, her husband D. Zh., born in 1994, beat her without reason and expelled her from their home in the Bakai-Ata district of the Talas region, dousing her with gasoline and setting her on fire.

M. T. admitted that at that moment she did not tell anyone about what happened, even though she sustained serious burns. The police noted that a fire was registered in the house on the specified day.
