
New rules and charter adopted for the National Academy of Sciences
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a resolution regarding the management of the National Academy of Sciences, which operates under the auspices of the president.
This document includes a new charter for the Academy, a description of the work of the coordination council engaged in fundamental and applied scientific research, as well as the regulations for the election of Academy members.
According to the resolution, scientific expertise will play a more significant role, and the Academy will be required to present two main reports: an annual national science report for the president and an annual report on scientific achievements for the Cabinet of Ministers.
Qualification requirements for Academy members, age limits, mechanisms for academic accountability, as well as rules for the code of ethics for employees and measures to prevent conflicts of interest in both scientific and administrative areas have also been established.
