According to the new decision, the following were approved: the charter of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the regulations of the coordinating council on fundamental and applied research, as well as the procedure for electing members of the academy.
The resolution also clarifies the legal status of the institution and strengthens the role of scientific expertise.
The Academy of Sciences is now required to prepare two reports: an annual national science report for the president and an annual report on scientific achievements for the Cabinet of Ministers.
In addition, the process of selecting members of the academy has been organized — qualification requirements, age limits, and mechanisms for academic accountability have been introduced. Provisions for a code of ethics for employees of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and measures to prevent conflicts of interest in scientific and administrative activities have also been established.
