The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has adopted a new resolution concerning the operations of the National Academy of Sciences. In accordance with this document, several important regulatory acts have been approved: the charter of the academy, as well as provisions for the coordination council, which will engage in fundamental and applied research in the fields of science and innovative technologies, and the procedure for electing members of the Academy.
Furthermore, the resolution clarifies the legal status of the Academy and strengthens its scientific expertise. The Academy is now required to prepare two types of reports: one — an annual national science report for the president, and the second — an annual report on scientific achievements for the Cabinet.
New rules have also been established for the election of Academy members: qualification requirements, age limits, and mechanisms for academic accountability have been introduced. An important addition is the implementation of a code of ethics for Academy staff, as well as measures aimed at preventing conflicts of interest in scientific and administrative activities.
