Danone recalls baby food in Germany. The brand's products are also sold in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The recall concerns at least three batches produced between May and August 2025. The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety in Germany has confirmed that these products have been withdrawn from sale.
The detected toxin, cereulide, can cause symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. It was found in one of the ingredients supplied from China. Over the past two weeks, Danone's shares have fallen by nearly 13 percent, according to media reports.
It is worth noting that earlier, in January of this year, Nestle also announced a voluntary recall of batches of its baby food, and shortly after that, Lactalis made a similar decision. In France, law enforcement agencies are conducting an investigation to determine whether the deaths of two infants may be linked to the consumption of the recalled products; however, no direct connection has been established at this time.
Interestingly, Danone products, including Aptamil baby food, are available in Kyrgyzstan both in specialized stores and through online shops.
