The city hall has announced the start of accepting proposals for a draft resolution concerning the development of the recently annexed territories of Bishkek.
It was noted that on January 19, 2026, a project titled "On the Approval of the Action Plan for the Development of Territories Annexed to the City of Bishkek as part of the Administrative-Territorial Reform for 2026-2030" was published.
According to the city hall, on July 18, 2024, the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Administrative-Territorial Units at the Level of Ayil Aymaks and Cities of the Kyrgyz Republic" was adopted, under which Bishkek was transferred 8 ayil aymaks with 24 settlements. This expansion increased the city's area from 12.9 thousand to 41 thousand hectares.
"As part of the transfer to the city of Bishkek, 15,588.96 hectares of agricultural land and 87 social infrastructure facilities were transferred. However, the new territories face a shortage of social facilities and issues in road and engineering infrastructure, as well as water, electricity, and sewage supply," the city hall noted.
To address these challenges, an Action Plan for 2026-2030 has been developed, covering four districts of the city. It includes the development of social, road, and engineering infrastructure, with funding from the republican and local budgets, as well as from municipal enterprises and off-budget sources.
The implementation of this Plan will enable balanced development of the urban environment, improve the quality of life for citizens, and integrate the new territories into the socio-economic system of Bishkek.
