A video of an incident that occurred in the Alayku Valley in the Osh region has surfaced on social media, showing a wolf being hit by a car.

This information was confirmed by Jenishbek Bekhtashov, a game specialist from the Osh regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan, responsible for the Kara-Kulja district.

According to him, the video has sparked an active discussion among internet users. The incident took place on January 23, 2026.

"The hunters captured in the video are residents of the Kara-Kulja district and had all the necessary permits. Recently, there has been an increase in the wolf population in the Alayku Valley, and local residents sought help from hunters. As a result, they went out to hunt," Bekhtashov noted.

He also added that the hunters are operating within the established season. The hunting season for partridges and hares recently ended on January 25, and the wolf hunting season began on January 26. Hunters with permits can legally shoot wolves using both firearms and traps.

Additionally, to reduce the predator population, the government has provided monetary rewards. The ministry pays hunters bonuses for shooting wolves and jackals: 6,000 soms for a wolf and 2,000 soms for a jackal," he added.
