Who and How Can Receive Benefits for Residents of High Mountain Areas
The Ministry of Labor clarified the conditions for receiving benefits and the necessary documents
The Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration explained how residents of high-altitude and hard-to-reach areas can receive a monthly benefit called "Assistance to Residents of High Mountain Areas." This benefit is aimed at families with children.
Families living in high-altitude and remote areas, including certain border settlements with special status, can apply for the benefit. The benefit is provided for the third and subsequent children, as well as for children under three years old, if they are dependent on their parents.
It is important to note that the family's income level is not a criterion for receiving the benefit — payments are available to all who meet the residency requirements.
To apply for the benefit, it is necessary to contact the territorial department of the Ministry of Labor at the place of residence. This will require the parents' passports, children's birth certificates, and proof of family registration in the high-altitude area. If the children were born abroad, documentary evidence of legal residence in Kyrgyzstan will be required.
Payments may be suspended if the family has moved from a high-altitude area, the child has reached three years of age, has died, is under full state care, or if it is established that the benefit was received illegally. Payments also cease if the family permanently leaves the country.
The benefit is accrued from the first day of the month following the application submission. For example, if the documents were submitted in January, payments will begin in February.
The Ministry also reminded that the place of residence must match in the state databases. If there is no registration, it is necessary to contact the local government for temporary registration.
The Ministry continues to work on clarifying data about children born outside the country.
