The Writers' Union called on law enforcement agencies to assess the statements of Zhapikeev.
In the statement from the Union of Writers, it is said: "We, the collective of the Union, express our position regarding the claims about Chingiz Aitmatov. Words that demean the honor and dignity of the great writer and do not correspond to the facts are unfounded."
The organization calls for respect for Kyrgyz literature and national values, noting that considering public opinion, it is advisable for the responsible authorities to review the statements of Syimyk Zhapikeev in accordance with the law," the publication posted on social media states.
Earlier, deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva also appealed to the Ministry of Culture to respond to Zhapikeev's words.
We remind you that on January 16, a podcast by journalist Ernist Kyazov was released on YouTube, in which Zhapikeev participated. During the conversation, the phenomenon of "mankurtism" and Aitmatov's works were discussed. The former head of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes expressed the opinion that Aitmatov's works are "five-kopek stories" and do not inspire.
He also added: "I haven't read the story about the mankurt, but it's not such a significant plot. There are writers who tell something amazing. For example, his stories about the first teacher or about the collective farm - these are five-kopek stories. They do not inspire more. After watching a movie with Bruce Lee, you want to repeat his tricks; you also want to become Bruce Lee," he noted.
