The Union of Writers called for a legal assessment of Zhapikeev's words about Aitmatov

The Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan made an official statement in response to recent comments by Syimyk Zhapikeev, the former head of the Financial Police, regarding the work of the outstanding writer Chingiz Aitmatov. This statement was prompted by an interview that appeared on the YouTube channel of journalist Ernist Kyazov. The information was conveyed to the editorial office of VB.KG by representatives of the Union of Writers.

In its address, the Union noted that the statements made about Aitmatov are inappropriate and unfounded. The organization expressed condemnation of such opinions, emphasizing that they represent an attempt to discredit Kyrgyz literature and national moral values. The Union also called for a legal assessment of Zhapikeev's statements in light of the public resonance that has arisen and in accordance with current legislation.

In the interview, Zhapikeev criticized the works of Chingiz Aitmatov, claiming that their content lacks spiritual depth and does not provide the reader with guidance (hidayat). He noted that the writer's creativity does not contribute to internal development and compared it to the works of Rumi, Al-Biruni, and Jami, as well as to Bruce Lee's films, which he believes provide greater inspiration. Zhapikeev also mentioned that he is not familiar with the novel "Plakha," but believes that it lacks deep plotlines and spiritual values.
