The Border Service reminded about the rules for the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated October 10, 2023, updated rules regarding the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan in the territory of Kyrgyzstan will come into effect on September 1, 2025. The Border Service of the State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic reminds that the changes involve several key aspects.

The main changes include:

  • A new mechanism for calculating the visa-free period.
Thus, from the specified date, citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be able to stay in Kyrgyzstan for up to 90 days within every 180 days, starting from their first entry.

This approach aligns with international practices and aims to optimize migration processes.

  • A method for accounting the duration of stay.
With each border crossing, the days of previous stays will not reset but will accumulate. The duration of stay will only be recalculated if the citizen leaves the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and remains outside its borders for 90 days.

  • Registration at the place of stay.
Citizens of Kazakhstan are not required to register during the first 30 days of their stay. However, if they plan to stay in the country for longer than this period, registration becomes mandatory.

  • Responsibility for exceeding the duration of stay.
If a citizen of Kazakhstan stays in Kyrgyzstan for more than 90 days without registration, their subsequent entry into the country will be restricted for 90 days.

  • Possibilities for extending the stay.
To extend their legal stay in the Kyrgyz Republic, the following documents must be provided:

  • registration at the place of stay;
  • residence permit;
  • temporary residence permit;
  • "Kairylman" status;
  • "Meken-kart";
  • "Resident-kart";
  • and other documents provided for by international agreements in which Kyrgyzstan participates.
The Border Service noted that similar rules apply to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the territory of Kazakhstan.
