The border service reminded about the rules for the stay of Kazakhstan citizens in the territory of Kyrgyzstan

According to information provided by the press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, updated rules for Kazakh citizens staying in Kyrgyzstan came into effect on September 1, 2025.

Main changes:

  • Procedure for calculating the visa-free period.
Now, citizens of Kazakhstan can stay in Kyrgyzstan for 90 days within a 180-day period, starting from the date of first entry. This approach aligns with international practices and aims to streamline migration processes.

  • Accounting for stay durations.
Each time the border is crossed, the days already used for the stay are not canceled but summed. The stay period starts anew only after a continuous exit from Kyrgyzstan for 90 calendar days.

  • Registration at the place of stay.
Kazakh citizens are exempt from the requirement to register during the first 30 days of their stay. If a stay longer than this period is planned, registration becomes mandatory.

  • Responsibility for exceeding stay limits.
Staying in Kyrgyzstan for more than 90 days without registration will limit the possibility of re-entry for 90 days.

  • Grounds for visa extension.
The duration of legal stay in the Kyrgyz Republic can be extended with the following documents:

  • registration at the place of stay;
  • residence permit;
  • temporary residence permit;
  • statuses "Kairylman," "Meken-kart," "Resident-kart";
  • other documents provided for by international agreements of which Kyrgyzstan is a participant.
