The Border Service Denied the Lack of Information for Citizens of Kazakhstan About the New Stay Rules

The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan has refuted recent claims by a member of the Jogorku Kenesh that citizens of Kazakhstan were not properly informed about the new rules for staying in the country.

According to the agency, efforts to inform were carried out prior to the changes coming into effect, involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Border Service of the GKNB, and the Ministry of Digital Development. Information was disseminated through official online sources, social media, and mass media.

Details about the new rules began to be officially published from spring-summer 2025 and continue to be updated to this day.
On December 4, 2025, the Border Service of the GKNB organized a briefing for journalists at the "Ak-Zhol-Road" checkpoint, where representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Department of Population Registration were present. Press releases were also sent to the mass media of Kazakhstan.

Explanatory work is ongoing. On January 13, 2026, information about the current rules for the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan was provided on the air of "Birinchi Radio".

Information stands have been installed at all checkpoints along the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border. Video materials are shown in passport control halls, and Border Service employees inform citizens of Kazakhstan about the duration and conditions of their stay.

The agency emphasized that citizens traveling abroad bear personal responsibility for complying with the migration legislation of the host country.

The Border Service also reminded that the measures taken are not unilateral and correspond to the restrictions introduced in the Republic of Kazakhstan from September 1 for citizens of Kyrgyzstan. These actions are aimed at ensuring the principle of reciprocity and comply with international practice.
