Traffic jams are exhausting: Bishkek residents are waiting for the tram
As part of a study conducted by journalists from 24.kg, a survey was organized among local residents to gather their opinions on this initiative.
The majority of survey participants responded positively to the idea of launching tram services. Residents believe that this will help reduce the load on the roads and decrease traffic congestion.
Some respondents also expressed the opinion that tram services would be beneficial not only within Bishkek but also for connecting with neighboring cities. In particular, there were suggestions to create a route from Kara-Balta to Tokmok.
At the same time, not all respondents share this optimism. Some expressed concerns that improper organization of tram tracks could lead to new traffic jams, especially in the city center.
However, many survey participants agree that with proper design, trams could significantly reduce the number of cars on the roads and improve the transport situation in Bishkek.
We remind you that according to information from the city administration, the capital's general plan includes the construction of a new tram line along Tokombaev Avenue, starting from the 12th microdistrict and ending in the city center. The route will then continue along Kyiv Street to the Osh market.
