As part of the General Plan for the development of Bishkek until 2050, the construction of a tram line is planned, which will connect the 12th microdistrict with the city center and continue to the Osh market. This was reported by the city hall of the capital.
In an official clarification, it was stated that the tram route will run along Aaly Tokombaev Avenue, then along Kyiv Street, heading towards the Osh market.
“The procedure for implementing construction works and selecting routes will be determined in the next stages of design, including the creation of a feasibility study for the tram lines,” the statement added.
Additionally, residents suggested considering the possibility of creating a tram line around the city.
The local authorities responded that the General Plan takes into account tram routes that will be the most loaded with passengers and will ensure connectivity with the main densely populated areas and the center of the capital.
In this regard, the design of a tram line that would cover the entire city would not effectively meet the needs of passenger transportation, the city hall clarified.
