Tram through the south of Bishkek: a new line is planned to be built from the 12th microdistrict to the center » Gazeta.kg

In accordance with the general development plan of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the creation of a new tram line is planned, which will run along Aaly Tokombaev Avenue. The route is set to begin from the 12th microdistrict, with its further direction towards the city center, exiting onto Kyiv Street and heading to the Osh market.

According to the city administration, the order of implementation for the tram infrastructure construction project, as well as specific routes, will be determined at later stages of the design process. These issues will also be taken into account when developing the technical and economic justification for the construction of new tram lines.

Local authorities emphasize that the tram is a crucial element in the development of public transport and helps to alleviate road traffic in Bishkek.

As part of the general plan, the creation of tram routes on dedicated lanes is envisaged. This will allow, along with the use of a large fleet of vehicles, to increase the maximum carrying capacity of trams, which is three times higher than that of trolleybuses.
