Tram through the south of Bishkek: the line is planned to be extended from the 12th microdistrict to the center

As part of the master plan for the development of the capital, Bishkek plans to implement a new tram line that will run along Aaly Tokombaev Avenue, starting from the 12th microdistrict and heading towards the city center. After that, the route will be extended along Kyiv Street to the Osh market.

As explained by representatives of the city administration, the exact routes and the sequence of project implementation for the tram infrastructure will be determined in the next stages of design. These issues will also be addressed during the development of the feasibility study for the creation of tram lines.

According to the authorities, the tram will become an important component for improving public transport and reducing the load on the capital's road network.

The master plan envisions the creation of tram lines on dedicated lanes. This will increase the carrying capacity of trams, which, thanks to the use of high-capacity rolling stock, can exceed the corresponding indicator of trolleybuses by three times.
