Licensing of Taxi Drivers. The Deputy is Curious Why a Criminal Record Certificate is Required from Them

During the session of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 14, while discussing the bill on state and municipal services, Deputy Marlen Mamataliyev raised the question of why taxi workers need a certificate of criminal record for obtaining a license.

He noted that in the context of debureaucratization and digitalization, such documents should be transmitted between government institutions electronically.

The deputy also asked: "What does a criminal record have to do with working in a taxi? What should those with a criminal record do, how can they earn a living?"

Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Choro Seitov explained that obtaining a criminal record certificate is possible through the "Tunduk" application. However, according to him, the licensing of taxi drivers is handled by another agency.
