The construction of the Orto-Tokoy Hydroelectric Power Station is entering the final stage

The implementation of the Ortokoy Hydroelectric Power Plant project has currently reached 80% completion. This project aims to ensure stable and uninterrupted electricity supply for the country.




According to the Ministry of Energy, the main construction processes are proceeding according to schedule. The 950-meter-long diversion tunnel has been fully completed, and it is currently being reinforced with concrete. Work has also been completed on preparing and strengthening the soil at the junction of the tunnels, where the walls of the chamber have already been built. Currently, preparations are underway for the installation of a tunnel interchange with three exits, for which metal structures have already been installed for two of them.

As for the hydroelectric power plant building, its readiness is at 90%. All three hydro turbines and disk gates have already been installed, and the roof frame has been assembled. Work is ongoing on the roof finishing, and other construction stages are being completed.



Construction work is being carried out by OJSC "Chakan HPP". The expected capacity of the Ortokoy Hydroelectric Power Plant will be 21 megawatts, and the completion of the project is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

It is worth noting that the government approved the project for the construction of the Ortokoy Hydroelectric Power Plant in July 2021, and the contract for implementation was signed on March 24, 2023. Construction work began in June 2024.
According to estimates, the capacity of the Ortokoy Hydroelectric Power Plant will provide electricity for approximately 15,000 to 18,000 households annually, depending on consumption.
