According to the General Plan for the development of Bishkek until 2050, city authorities intend to construct a new tram line from the 12th microdistrict to the center and further to the Osh market. This information was announced at the capital's mayor's office.
According to the city administration, the tram line will be built along Aaly Tokombaev Avenue, starting from the 12th microdistrict and continuing along Kyiv Street, reaching the Osh market.
“The procedure for implementing construction activities and selecting routes will be determined in the next stages of design, including the development of a feasibility study,” the statement clarified.
Additionally, residents have proposed creating a tram line that would circle the city.
In response, the mayor's office explained that the tram lines outlined in the General Plan will cover routes with the highest passenger traffic, including key areas with high residential density and providing connections to the center.
Thus, the creation of a tram line around the city would not be effective for passenger transportation, the city administration added.
