The BELES project is not closing, but requires modernization — the founder dispelled the rumors
Recently, there have been many misunderstandings and emotional interpretations in public discussions regarding the BELES project and its commitments as assumed by the president and the state. Urmat Djusheev, one of the founders of the company with a 50% stake, emphasized the need to clarify the situation.
“Initially, we did plan to launch the assembly and production of buses in Kyrgyzstan. However, during the work, the relevant authorities and specialists pointed out numerous shortcomings. Among them were issues of compliance with international standards, technical requirements, as well as the lack of a complete production-service cycle, which includes not only assembly but also subsequent maintenance, guarantees, and infrastructure,” he noted.
As a result of the analysis, it became clear that addressing the identified issues would require significant additional investments that exceed the initial estimates. The funds invested in the first stage were utilized, but further development of the project under the current conditions has become financially unfeasible. In this regard, the project has been temporarily suspended.
Djusheev also emphasized that neither the president nor the state authorities have taken on any legal or financial obligations regarding the purchase of BELES buses. The widespread rumors about "unfulfilled promises" from the state do not correspond to reality. Even if a government order had been placed, the company would not have been able to ensure the production and maintenance of buses in accordance with the existing technical and service requirements,” he added.
We have carefully assessed the situation to avoid misleading both the state and society. Currently, the founders are considering various options for modernizing the project, refining it, and bringing it in line with the necessary standards, after which decisions will be made regarding further development.
Thus, the BELES project is not closed but is in a stage of rethinking and analysis. We believe it is important to discuss this openly and professionally, without politicization and distortion of facts,” he concluded.
