In the modern world, smartphones and tablets are increasingly becoming not only a source of entertainment but also a substitute for parental attention for children. However, despite the attractive screens and educational content, there are many factors that can negatively affect a child's health and mental state. These issues include deteriorating vision, speech development delays, increased anxiety, and sleep disturbances.
There is a need for strict control over gadget use, as explained by specialists from the Republican Center for Health Promotion, as well as psychologist Polina Fursova.
Medical Experts' Perspective
Doctors note that prolonged screen time can lead to worsening vision, delays in speech development, as well as attention and concentration problems. Additionally, children may experience headaches, posture issues, and a decline in physical condition, which in turn negatively impacts their socialization and emotional intelligence development.
Doctors emphasize that gadgets can be beneficial if their use is reasonable and limited, especially for older children.

up to 2 years — complete exclusion;
from 2 to 5 years — no more than 1 hour a day;
from 6 to 18 years — up to 2 hours a day.
Specialists recommend spending more time on active games, outdoor walks, and joint activities with parents that promote a child's physical and mental development.
Psychologist's Opinion
In an interview with the Kabar agency, psychologist Polina Fursova emphasized that some educational applications can indeed contribute to the development of memory and logical thinking, but their effectiveness directly depends on strict adherence to age restrictions and usage time.
“It is important for young children to use gadgets in the presence of adults. Interaction with screens should not replace live communication. For children under 3 years old, screen time should be minimized, as their brains develop actively through real interactions,” she noted.

“In such cases, it is not enough to simply take away the device. It is important to offer alternative activities — walks, active games, board games, and joint creativity. Family rules regarding gadget use that all family members adhere to can also be effective,” Fursova added.
Experts emphasize that safe use of digital devices is only possible with moderation, parental modeling, and a focus on an active lifestyle and family communication.
