Many parents do not realize that bright cartoons, educational games, and seemingly harmless videos can be harmful. This belief is a common misconception, as frequent use of digital devices can negatively affect a child's health and development.
Possible consequences include:
- deterioration of vision;
- speech development delays;
- increased anxiety, neuroses, and depressive states;
- problems with socialization and emotional intelligence;
- learning difficulties, including decreased concentration and memory impairment;
- posture disorders (scoliosis, osteochondrosis), circulation problems in the cervical region, and headaches;
- sleep problems and difficulties falling asleep.
Experts note that while gadgets can be useful for accessing educational content, this primarily applies to older children and when used sensibly.
The recommended screen time limits for children are as follows:
- up to two years — complete ban;
- from two to five years — no more than one hour a day;
- from six to eighteen years — a maximum of two hours a day.
According to the World Health Organization, modern children spend too much time in front of screens. Doctors strongly advise paying more attention to active play and physical activity.
“Regular walks, family games, and sports activities contribute not only to the physical but also to the mental development of children,” emphasize the experts at the Health Strengthening Center.
