The Ministry of Health Discussed Priorities for Cooperation with the UN in the Field of Health

On January 29, Health Minister Kanibek Dosmambetov held a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator Antje Grave, during which key areas of joint work were discussed. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

During the conversation, the minister expressed gratitude to UN agencies for their support in implementing reforms in the healthcare sector. In particular, the discussion focused on the development and implementation of a National Action Plan for ensuring medical and sanitary safety, updating legislation in the field of public health, as well as a program aimed at expanding access to medical services, disease prevention, and preparedness for various emergencies.

The Minister of Health also presented the main priorities of the new team, emphasizing the importance of disease prevention and the transition from treatment to the formation of a healthy society. Among these priorities were the prevention of non-communicable diseases, promoting a healthy lifestyle, strengthening immunization, caring for the health of mothers and children, reducing maternal mortality, enhancing epidemiological surveillance, and further developing reforms in the healthcare system.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of digital technologies, such as electronic medical records, the development of telemedicine, and the creation of a situational center for rapid response to challenges.

Dosmambetov emphasized the importance of support from the UN in providing medical institutions with modern equipment, expanding internship and training programs for healthcare workers abroad, as well as exchanging international best practices.

Antje Grave confirmed the UN system's readiness to continue and expand cooperation with the Ministry of Health. She noted that Kyrgyzstan is participating in a global initiative for digital transformation with the support of UN agencies and expressed readiness to assist in further work in areas such as digitalization of healthcare, immunization, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Additionally, the meeting discussed the strategic planning of the UN system for 2026–2027 and the preparation of a new framework document for cooperation for the period 2028–2032.
