The formation of a healthy society became a key topic of the meeting between the Ministry of Health and the UN.

Today in Bishkek, a meeting took place between the Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov and the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Antje Grave. At this meeting, the minister expressed gratitude for the support of health reforms provided by the UN system. He emphasized the importance of the contributions of various UN agencies in the creation and implementation of the National Action Plan aimed at medical and sanitary safety and public health legislation.

Kanybek Dosmambetov highlighted that one of the main tasks of the new team at the Ministry of Health is to transition towards forming a healthy society, focusing on disease prevention rather than just treatment.

The minister outlined key areas of work, including the prevention of non-communicable diseases, promoting a healthy lifestyle, improving immunization, protecting maternal and child health, reducing maternal mortality, as well as strengthening epidemiological surveillance and reforming the healthcare system.

He specifically noted the importance of digitalization in healthcare, including the introduction of electronic medical records, telemedicine technologies, and the establishment of situational centers for rapid response.

Kanybek Dosmambetov expressed interest in UN support regarding equipping medical institutions with modern equipment, expanding internship programs for medical professionals abroad, and exchanging international experiences.

Antje Grave also confirmed the UN system's readiness to continue and deepen cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. She noted that Kyrgyzstan is participating in a global digital transformation program supported by the UN and expressed a desire to assist in the areas of digitalization, immunization, and health protection.

Additionally, the parties discussed strategic planning for 2026-2027 and the preparation of a new five-year framework cooperation document for 2028-2032, emphasizing the importance of active involvement of the Ministry of Health in setting priorities for joint work.

As a result of the meeting, both parties expressed interest in strengthening partnership and continuing joint efforts for the sustainable development of the healthcare system in Kyrgyzstan.
