From Treatment to Prevention. The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the UN Outline New Priorities

At the meeting attended by the Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmbetov and the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Antje Grave, key areas of health reform were discussed, as well as the need to emphasize disease prevention. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health's press service, Dosmbetov emphasized that the new team will focus on forming a healthy society, moving away from traditional treatment methods.

It was also noted that it is necessary to develop digital solutions in healthcare, including the introduction of electronic medical records, telemedicine, and the creation of a situational center for rapid response.

Kanybek Dosmbetov expressed interest in support from the UN system for the modernization of healthcare institutions, expanding training and internship programs for healthcare workers abroad, as well as for sharing international experience.

Antje Grave noted that Kyrgyzstan is participating in a global project for digital transformation, which is being implemented with the support of UN agencies, and expressed readiness for further cooperation in the areas of digitalization, immunization, maternal and child health protection, reproductive health, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The parties also raised issues of strategic planning for the UN system for 2026-2027 and the preparation of a new five-year framework cooperation document for 2028-2032.

In conclusion, the participants confirmed their interest in strengthening partnerships and agreed to continue joint work for the sustainable development of the healthcare system.
