On January 15 in Bishkek, 17 people, including 4 children, became victims of poisoning at one of the fast-food establishments. In this regard, employees of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic have addressed the public with recommendations for preventing food poisoning.
Food poisoning is an acute illness that occurs due to the consumption of food containing pathogenic microorganisms or toxic substances.
Recommendations for Preventing Food Poisoning
For Fast-Food Establishments:
- compliance with all sanitary standards and technological instructions during food preparation;
- implementation of production control programs;
- allowing employees to work only after passing a medical examination;
- prohibiting individuals with signs of infectious diseases from working;
- regular training of employees on personal hygiene and sanitation rules;
- using only quality raw materials with documents confirming their safety;
- separate storage of raw materials and finished dishes;
- compliance with temperature regimes for storing and preparing products;
- ensuring sufficient thermal processing of meat and semi-finished products;
- conducting regular cleaning and disinfection of premises and equipment;
- using separate utensils for processing raw materials and finished products;
- ensuring uninterrupted water supply for handwashing;
- personal responsibility of the owner for the safety of the products sold.
- choose catering establishments with a clean appearance and compliance with sanitary standards;
- avoid purchasing street food, especially from questionable places;
- always wash hands before eating, especially outside the home;
- do not recommend fast food to children, pregnant women, elderly people, and those with chronic diseases;
- at the first signs of poisoning, do not self-medicate and be sure to consult a doctor.
