In Bishkek, 17 people were poisoned at the fast food point "Daamduu," including 4 children.

On January 15, a mass poisoning occurred in Bishkek linked to the fast food establishment "Daamduu." Seventeen people were affected, including four children. This was reported by the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Of the affected individuals, thirteen were hospitalized and are currently under inpatient observation, while four are receiving outpatient care. The first symptoms of poisoning began to manifest in people at different times throughout the day, prompting them to seek medical assistance at the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital. Doctors provided all necessary assistance and collected clinical samples for laboratory analysis.

According to epidemiological data, all affected individuals consumed shawarma purchased from the fast food establishment "Daamduu" on the same day. In connection with the incident, specialists from the Bishkek State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Center conducted an unscheduled inspection of the establishment. During the inspection, samples of ingredients, swabs from kitchen equipment, and remnants of finished products were collected for further research. Health checks were also conducted on the café staff for the presence of intestinal infection pathogens.

As a result of the inspection, three protocols for violations were drawn up, and three resolutions were issued imposing fines totaling 41,000 soms under articles 80, 214 part 1, and 214 part 5 of the KR Code "On Offenses." The establishment's manager was issued an order to close the fast food outlet starting January 15, 2026, and the premises were sealed.

The epidemiological investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided as laboratory results come in. The department noted that fast food, including shawarma, poses a product with an increased risk of epidemiological diseases, especially when cooking technologies, storage conditions, and personal hygiene rules are not followed.

The department also emphasized that entrepreneurs operating in the food service sector are responsible for the safety of their products. They are required to strictly adhere to sanitary standards and ensure control in production, as well as allow only those employees who have undergone medical examinations to work. Citizens are advised to purchase food only from licensed establishments, monitor the sanitary condition of trading points, and seek medical assistance immediately if symptoms of poisoning appear.
