A solemn ceremony was held in Bishkek to mark the opening of the honorary consulate of Montenegro in Kyrgyzstan. This event has become a significant moment in deepening relations between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of economic interaction, investment activity, and direct contacts.
The opening of the consulate took place during the official visit of Ervin Ibrahimovic, the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and Minister of Foreign Affairs. This underscores Montenegro's growing interest in Central Asia, and particularly in Kyrgyzstan. The new consular office will serve as a platform for the implementation of joint projects and business initiatives.
Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, the diplomatic corps, as well as representatives from international organizations and businesses attended the event.
As diplomats noted, the opening of the consulate indicates mutual interest in activating cooperation and creating sustainable mechanisms for interaction. It is expected to become an effective tool for developing trade relations, attracting investments, and strengthening humanitarian ties.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Meder Abakirov, emphasized the importance of this event for bilateral relations in his speech:
- The opening of the honorary consulate of Montenegro in Bishkek is not just a diplomatic step, but an important signal of our mutual interest in strengthening cooperation. This is a new stage in the development of Kyrgyz-Montenegrin relations, especially in the areas of economy, investment, and humanitarian ties. We are confident that the consulate will become a platform for the implementation of joint initiatives.
Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimovic also highlighted the prospects of the new consulate:
- I am pleased to welcome you to the opening of the consulate of Montenegro in the Kyrgyz Republic, which will be headed by Mr. Beknazar Asanov. Despite the distance between our countries, we strive for rapprochement. This is an important step in the development of strategic relations and strengthening ties between our peoples.
- The opening of the consulate in Bishkek has special significance, as this is our first consular presence in Kyrgyzstan. It creates new opportunities for interaction with Central Asia, which we view as an important region for international cooperation.
- Montenegro is a European country that aspires to join the European Union and remains a reliable NATO ally. We are open to expanding partnerships and see significant prospects in cooperation in areas such as tourism, energy, agriculture, and investments.
Modern diplomacy is based not only on official meetings but also on human connections. In this context, honorary consuls play an important role in creating new opportunities for interaction between our countries.
The honorary consul of Montenegro in Kyrgyzstan, Beknazar Asanov, outlined the key directions of his activities, emphasizing economic interaction:
- I represent the business community and understand how important it is to establish direct contacts between entrepreneurs. We will focus on developing economic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Montenegro.
Our plans include organizing business forums together with the chambers of commerce and industry of both countries, which will allow entrepreneurs to establish connections, discuss joint projects, and find new growth opportunities.
There is already interest from investors in areas such as hydropower, industry, and processing. We will work on attracting investments both to Kyrgyzstan and Montenegro.
Additionally, we intend to consider the possibility of launching direct air communication, which will significantly simplify business contacts and the development of tourism.
The opening of the honorary consulate in Bishkek is seen as a transition from diplomatic intentions to concrete actions and will become a sustainable platform for the development of partnership, investments, and long-term cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Montenegro," Asanov concluded.
