President Sadyr Japarov has approved the law of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding the ratification of exchange notes between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Japan. This document is related to the project "Improvement of Medical Equipment in Referral Hospitals in the Southern Regions" and the grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), signed on December 12, 2026, in Bishkek. This information was provided by the president's information policy service.
The law was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh on February 26, 2025. According to this grant agreement, Japan allocates up to 1,801,000,000 Japanese yen to Kyrgyzstan (equivalent to $11,321,525 or approximately 990,043,586 soms) for the implementation of the specified project.
The goal of the project is to strengthen the capabilities for diagnosing and treating non-communicable diseases. This will be achieved by supplying modern medical equipment for the treatment of cardiovascular and oncological diseases to referral hospitals in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan. As a result, an improvement in the quality of medical services and increased access to specialized care for residents of Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions is expected.
