Today, March 11, the director of the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Seytek Jumakadyrov Uulu, stated at a press conference that citizens of the country should avoid traveling to the Middle East, including the UAE and Bahrain.

This recommendation also applies to pilgrimage for Umrah and Hajj. He reminded that a temporary travel restriction to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah had previously been introduced until the situation stabilizes.

“There is a need to refrain from traveling for any reason,” he noted.

Additionally, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that it is important for Kyrgyz citizens in these countries to maintain contact with local embassies and consulates.

On February 28, Israel and the USA carried out strikes against Iran. Donald Trump announced his plans to destroy the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

In response, Iran began attacking military bases of the USA and their allies in Israel and other Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai (UAE), as well as Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

As a result of the US-Israeli attacks, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. His wife, Mansure Khodjaste, then died from her injuries.

Trump also stated that the military operation in Iran would last about four weeks. A jihad against the USA and Israel was announced in Iran, emphasizing that there would be no negotiations.

The conflict in the Middle East has global consequences, including for Kyrgyzstan. Currently, thousands of tourists are stranded in the UAE due to the situation. Contact phone numbers for embassies and consulates for Kyrgyz citizens abroad can be found here.
