Members of the parliamentary committee on international affairs discussed a draft law concerning the ratification of a protocol that amends the agreement between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on border checkpoints. The document was signed on August 22, 2025, in Bishkek.

This draft law is necessary to fulfill internal procedures preceding the protocol's entry into force. The signing of the document took place during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Kyrgyzstan.

According to the amendments, the checkpoint "Kamyshanovka - road" will be renamed to "Tomonku-Chuy - road" and will receive international status, allowing it to operate around the clock.

It is also planned that the checkpoint "Kichi-Kapka - road" will be transformed into an international one, with a 24/7 operating regime.

The adoption of this decision is aimed at creating more comfortable conditions for citizens and vehicles crossing the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. This is expected to contribute to an increase in passenger and cargo traffic, attract foreign tourists, and improve infrastructure.
