Kyrgyzstan and the Maldives Interested in Opening Direct Air Communication
On February 23, 2026, in Geneva, as part of high-level events of the UN Human Rights Council and the disarmament conference, a meeting took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Khalil. During the discussions, the parties addressed issues related to bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of political dialogue, economic, and cultural ties. Both sides expressed interest in establishing direct air communication between the countries.
The meeting also focused on multilateral interaction. The participants confirmed their intention to expand cooperation and strengthen friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and the Maldives.
In conclusion, Kulubaev invited representatives of the Maldives to participate in the World Nomad Games scheduled for 2026, as well as in the Second Global Mountain Summit, which will take place in October 2027.
