The government of Kyrgyzstan has decided to impose a temporary ban on the export of ferrous scrap metal and metal ingots intended for melting. This decision is a result of the implementation of Presidential Decree No. 375, which was issued on November 14, 2022.

According to the adopted resolution, the export of the specified materials (according to the EAEU codes TEI TN 7204) will be prohibited for a period of six months. This restriction will take effect three days after its official publication.
According to the cabinet's information, this measure is aimed at protecting domestic processing enterprises and stabilizing the raw materials market.
The ban complies with the norms of the EAEU agreement and aims to prevent the uncontrolled export of strategically important raw materials from the country.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce will inform the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission about the introduction of this restriction within three days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also required to notify the Executive Committee of the CIS.

The State Customs Service and the Border Service have been instructed to strengthen control and prevent any attempts at the illegal export of scrap metal beyond the country's borders.

Resolution No. 554, which was in effect prior to this and regulated the previous ban regime, is no longer relevant.
