During the discussion of the new draft law "On State Awards, Honorary Titles, and State Prizes" in its first reading in parliament, the issue of reinstating the title "People's Teacher" was raised again.

Deputy Toktobubu Ashimbaeva emphasized that public recognition and encouragement of educators play an important role in enhancing the prestige of the profession.

“Currently, I am discussing my draft law, which proposes amendments to the Law 'On State Awards, Honorary Titles, and State Prizes of the Kyrgyz Republic.' We aim to restore the title 'People's Teacher' in the list of state awards. From 2001 to 2017, this title was awarded to 25 individuals, but now only seven remain. It is important to reinstate this title, and I urge you to consider this aspect when adopting amendments to the new law,” she noted.

Deputy Gulai Mashrapova also supported the initiative to restore the title of People's Teacher.

“Education is the foundation of our state, and teachers shape human capital. It is necessary to raise the status of educators and provide motivation for young specialists,” she added.

Justice Minister Ayaz Bayetov assured that all proposed changes would be considered during the second reading.

It is worth noting that the draft law plans to reduce the number of state awards from 46 to 20.
