Deputy Toktobubu Ashimbaeva proposed to reinstate the title of "People's Teacher," presenting the corresponding amendments to the law on state awards and honorary titles on the official website of the Jogorku Kenesh.

This title was introduced in 2001 and awarded to teachers of general education schools, as well as to instructors at higher and vocational educational institutions, employees of preschool and methodological institutions, and authors of textbooks for outstanding achievements in the field of education and youth upbringing, as well as for many years of productive activity.

According to Ashimbaeva, from its introduction in 2001 until its abolition in 2017, this title was awarded to 25 educators, and today only seven of them are still alive.

Since 2017, the title of "People's Teacher" has been abolished, while the title of "Honored Teacher" continues to exist.

Ashimbaeva emphasizes that the teaching profession holds a high social status, reflecting societal recognition and attracting talented individuals, which is due to high professionalism, love for children, and the ability to inspire. Teaching is not just a job, but a calling aimed at unlocking the potential of students and nurturing a new generation. Public recognition and support for teachers for their work can significantly enhance the prestige of this profession. It is important for teachers to be valued and respected as one of the most significant and important professions in society," the justification for the initiative states.

Furthermore, the deputy is confident that the high status of the profession can attract talented specialists to the field of education and improve the quality of education in schools.
