On January 22, the Jogorku Kenesh presented for public discussion a draft law concerning amendments to the legislation on state awards, honorary titles, and prizes of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Deputy Toktobubu Ashymbaeva, who is the initiator of this draft law, noted that its main goal is to enhance the prestige of the teaching profession.

The proposal includes the introduction of a new honorary title — "People's Teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic".

Ashymbaeva explained that this title existed until 2017, when changes were made to the legislation. It was included in the law on honorary titles in 2001, but was excluded after the adoption of a new law on state awards in 2017. From 2001 to 2017, this title was awarded to 25 individuals, of whom only 7 remain today.

As part of the draft law, it is proposed to supplement Article 2 of the current law with a new clause that will include the title "People's Teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic" in the list of first-category honorary titles.

Furthermore, the justification for the project states that its implementation will require additional financial expenditures from the state budget. According to the government resolution, social sector workers whose professional activities correspond to the profile of the title will be provided with an allowance for the titles "People's" and "Honored".
