Significant changes in the higher education system are planned in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Edil Baisalov, at a meeting of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations.

According to Baisalov, the creation of a new ministry was the first step towards a radical modernization of education and science. The agency has been tasked with making universities centers of attraction for talent and sources of modern knowledge that will contribute to the country's development for decades.

He also noted that the implementation of the president's decree on granting special status to several universities has led to varying results. Some universities have been able to take advantage of new opportunities and demonstrate success, while others are still waiting for clarifications.

The deputy head of the cabinet added that a review of educational programs will take place soon. It is planned to eliminate outdated disciplines, improve ineffective training areas, and introduce new courses that meet the demands of the modern economy.
