In Kyrgyzstan, at the checkpoint "Kyzyl-Kiya" in the Batken region, a significant shipment of planting material was prevented from entering the country. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, on March 3, 2026, inspectors from the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection and Quarantine discovered a batch of 80,520 seedlings arriving from the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The ban on the import of this batch is based on the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 103 dated February 13, 2026, which introduced temporary restrictions on the import of seedlings of fruit and berry crop varieties into the country. During the quarantine phytosanitary control, it was found that the imported varieties do not comply with the list approved by this act.
According to current legislation, the entire batch of planting material was returned to the country of origin. The Ministry emphasizes that these measures are intended to ensure phytosanitary safety in the Kyrgyz Republic and to support local seed production. Border control has been strengthened to prevent the import of products that do not meet state standards and requirements.
