In Kyrgyzstan, a temporary ban on the import of seedlings of fruit and berry crop varieties has been introduced. This decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers of the country.
According to the resolution, starting from March 1, 2026, a six-month ban on the import of seedlings is imposed, except for those specified in the annex to the document. This ban does not apply to goods from member states of the Eurasian Economic Union that are moved within the framework of mutual trade, as well as the transit of seedlings through the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has been instructed to notify the Committee on Trade-Related Measures of the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission about the introduction of this ban.
Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must notify the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States about the introduction of the temporary restriction within three days.
The State Customs Service, as well as the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, must take measures to prevent the illegal import of fruit and berry crops, except for those specified in the annex to the resolution.
According to the new resolution, the previous decision from July 2, 2024, No. 346, on the temporary restriction on the import of seedlings is rendered invalid.
Control over the implementation of this resolution is entrusted to the Department for Monitoring the Execution of Decisions of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The official publication of the resolution and its entry into force is scheduled for March 1, 2026.
