The Ministry of Education commented on the incident that occurred at the Talyb Akun school located in the village of Chyrak, Jetiy-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region.

A video has surfaced on social media showing a physical education teacher striking students with his fists.

“This incident is being treated as violence against children and constitutes a serious violation of professional ethics on the part of the teacher,” the Ministry of Education reported.

According to the ministry's order dated January 19, 2026, preventive measures are being implemented across the country. In this regard, the ministry urges not to make generalized conclusions about the situation based on this case.

“Additionally, explanatory work is being conducted involving teachers, students, and their parents. The Republican Institute for the Advanced Training and Retraining of Educational Workers has been instructed to enhance efforts regarding the professional ethics of teachers in Kyrgyzstan,” the agency clarified.

According to police information, on January 28 at around 11 a.m., at the Chyrak school, physical education teacher J.K., born in 1996, called four eighth-graders to the board during a lesson and “for educational purposes” struck them with his hand.

A forensic medical examination was appointed to check for bodily injuries. However, after a discussion, the students' parents reported that they had no complaints and refused the examination.

As a result of the investigation, a decision was made to refuse to initiate a criminal case. The teacher was held accountable under Article 56 (“Beatings”) of the Code of Offenses.
