From April 22 to 24, 2026, a Regional Ecological Summit (RES 2026) will be held in Astana, bringing together global and regional leaders to discuss the key climate and ecological challenges of Central Asia, as reported by the Associated Press.

The motto of the event is "A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future."

The summit is organized by the government of Kazakhstan in collaboration with regional and international partners and will serve as a permanent platform for strategic dialogue, coordination, and the creation of partnerships in the fields of ecology, climate, and sustainable development.

RES 2026 is expected to strengthen Astana's status as an international center for developing practical solutions to the most pressing ecological issues in the region. Discussions will focus on issues such as water resource scarcity, glacier melting, land degradation, loss of biodiversity, and increasing pressure on limited natural resources.

The summit program includes three days of high-level plenary sessions and more than 20 thematic and country-specific sessions. Participants will discuss the "green" transition from ambitious plans to concrete actions, climate resilience, food security, sustainable management of natural resources, and financing mechanisms for ecological initiatives. Attention will also be given to technology, education, and digital solutions as tools for shaping a sustainable future.

Among the summit participants:

• President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

• President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev

• President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon

• President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan

• President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh

Organizers emphasize that the summit will not only serve as a platform for exchanging views but will also act as a catalyst for the implementation of joint projects and investment solutions aimed at improving the resilience of energy, water, and food systems in the region.

According to the initiators, RES 2026 is intended to enhance regional cooperation and the implementation of practical measures that will help achieve global climate goals and sustainable development objectives.
